Professor Guy Gable leads the Research Systems research program within the Information Ecology Research Discipline, Information Systems School, Queensland University of Technology. He is Senior Editor Journal of Strategic Information Systems (since 2003) and has served on the editorial boards of MISQ, JAIS, EJIS and others. Dr Gable is a Charter Member of AIS, has held a range of AIS roles, and has been highly active in the main regional conference ‘Pacific Asia Conference on IS’ having held 5 major roles (2013 recipient of the ‘PACIS Plaque of Appreciation’ for lifetime contribution). Main research interests are IT Evaluation, Research Methods, and increasingly, Design Science. Research Industry Partners have included Accenture, SAP, Queensland Government, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Credit Union Services Corporation, Institute of Management Consultants, RealTech, AIS, Wardy IT Solutions and Australian Research Council (ARC). His PhD is from University of Bradford, England and his MBA from University of Western Ontario (Ivey Business School). He has over 100 refereed publications (e.g. Management Science, Journal of the AIS, Journal of Strategic Information Systems, Information & Management, and European Journal of Information Systems). Professor Gable has been highly active in Asia. He is Adjunct Professor Renmin University of China (RENMIN) and Senior Visiting Professor of Xi’an Jiaotong University’s (XI’AN) Next Generation Management and Innovation Research Center. He was Visiting Professor at The University of Hong Kong 2002-2007 (1 month/year). Before joining QUT, he was Senior Fellow at National University of Singapore (1986-1994). He has been 1st Chief Investigator on a series of successful Australian Research Council (ARC) grant applications totaling several million $AUD. Ongoing grants include an ARC Discovery and ARC Linkage 2012-2015 (totaling AUD$1M) in collaboration with RENMIN and XI’AN, Georgia State University and Victory University of Wellington. Most recently, he is 1st Chief Investigator on a $1.1M Discovery (2015-2018) galvanizing his shift in focus to Research Systems.
