Ms. A W Janitha C Abeygunasekera

Mini Profile Statement

Janitha is a PhD candidate conducting multidisciplinary research, (in Business Process Management and Accounting) in the Information Systems School, Queensland University of Technology. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance with a first class, a Master of Business Administration Degree and is partly qualified in Chartered Accountancy examinations. Further she is a Senior Lecturer in the Accounting Department, Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka having experience on teaching Auditing and Accounting related subjects for nearly seven years. Her research interests lies in the areas of Business Process Management, Accounting and Auditing, while her current research topic in her PhD is: “Role of Performance Measurement Systems in Institutionalizing the Business Process Improvement Initiatives”

Qualifications

  • Master of Business Administration programme at the Postgraduate Institute of Management, Sri Lanka in year 2010 (Thesis Title: Non-Compliance with Standard Accounting Practices by Small & Medium Scale Enterprises in Sri Lanka)
  • Completed the Bachelor of Business Administration Degree programme (with a 1st Class), specialized in Finance, at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in year 2006 (Dissertation Title: Social Reporting Practices of Corporate Entities in Sri Lanka)
  • Completed the Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education, at the Staff Development Centre of the University of Colombo, , October 2012
  • SEDA Certified Teacher in Higher Education, United Kingdom accreditation, October 2012
